Free Virtual Tax Clinic - Registration
ClientTable has partnered with Beneficent to host a free virtual tax clinic (see our press release). If you’re looking to get your 2020 tax return prepared please follow the steps below.
Get Your Taxes Prepared
Here are the steps to register and get your taxes prepared for free.
1. Determine your eligibility
The free tax preparation service is available to eligible low income individuals and families, with simple tax situations. The program is delivered as part of the CRA’s Community Volunteer Income Tax Program.
Eligibility requirements can be found on CRA’s website. Not sure if you qualify? Send an e-mail to hmubashsher@beneficent.cc with details of your personal tax situation to see if you qualify.
Your eligibility will be confirmed before your return is prepared.
2. Book a virtual appointment
If you meet the eligibility criteria, register for a time slot here. Can't find an available time slot? Add your name to the waitlist, we will notify you if addtional capacity opens.
The available dates are March 27th and March 28th, 2021.
3. Upload your documents on Beneficent’s client portal
You will receive an email invitation to create an account on Beneficent’s portal (powered by ClientTable) before your appointment date (check your spam folders). The login page is here
Upload all of your tax documents to the file sharing portal, one day prior to your meeting. This will ensure that our volunteers understand your personal tax circumstances and are prepared to answer your questions. Don't worry if you are not sure about all the required documents - you may upload additional documents after the meeting.
Ensure you complete the Personal Information Form which will be found inside your shared folder.
4. Attend your 30 minute session with one of our tax volunteers on Zoom
You can discuss your personal tax situation and ask any questions or concerns you may have regarding your tax return.
5. Wait for your return to be prepared
Allow the tax volunteer up to one week to prepare your return. Upload any requested additional documents as soon as possible for the volunteer.
6. Review your prepared tax return and sign-off
Your tax preparer will upload a completed return into your folder. Review the draft return and complete forms authorizing for the tax return to be submitted through E-FILE (electronic filing with the CRA).
